Clérigos regulares nas ordenações sacras da Sé de Coimbra no século XV

    In this article, the Author, based on the study of sacred orders registration in the See of Coimbra, existing between 1399 and 1491, evaluates the general demographic evolution of the Clergy in this Diocese and the structuring sociological lines that characterized all the “clericalization process” since the reception of the first tonsure until the acquisition of presbytery. It focus then, on the present regular clergy, evaluating the representativeness of the professed in the old monastic Orders (Canons Regular, Benedictines, Cistercians and religious of the Military Orders of Avis and Christ), as well as the very high weight, although not surprising in the Portuguese medieval ecclesiastical history, of the cloistral of the new Orders (Dominicans, Franciscans, Jerónimos, Agustin Eremites and Trinitarians) which were crossing, in XV century, a period of profound organization, of whom are collected important and inedited echoes in the archival sources.

    Neste artigo, o Autor, partindo do estudo das matrículas de ordens sacras da Sé de Coimbra, existentes entre os anos de 1399 e 1491, avalia a evolução demográfica geral do Clero nesta Diocese e as linhas sociológicas estruturantes que caracterizavam todo o “processo de clericalização” desde a recepção da primeira tonsura até à obtenção do presbiterado. Incide, depois, sobre o clero regular presente, avaliando a representatividade dos professos das velhas Ordens monásticas (Cónegos Regrantes, Beneditinos, Cistercienses e religiosos das Ordens Militares de Avis e de Cristo), bem como o elevadíssimo peso, posto que não surpreendente na história eclesiástica medieval portuguesa, dos claustrais das novas Ordens (Dominicanos, Franciscanos, Jerónimos, Eremitas Agostinhos e Trinitários), as quais atravessavam, em Quatrocentos, um período de profunda recomposição, de que se recolhem importantes e inéditos ecos nas fontes arquivísticas em causa.
