Objective: to describe the quaternary prevention applied to the electroneuromyography based on the medical bioetic.
Development: the group of activities to avoid, to reduce and to palliate the damage caused by the medical intervention has been defined as quaternary prevention. Thus was carried out a descriptive bibliographical revision from november from the 2023 to march of the 2024. For the obtaining of the information was performed a search updated in Pubmed, SciELO, and academic Google to complete text, the 50 selected articles allowed to extract reliable data used in the analysis and synthesis of the information. It existed, in the literature evidences that pointed out the importance of the nerve conduction studies and electromyography for the diagnosis of the neuromuscular disease; but a growing tendency is recognized to the inadequate and unnecessary indication of these studies; reason why a group of experts designed, it modernized and it evaluated the electroneuromyography protocols based on the evidence and the bioethic principles and it was described as completing these principles starting from the application of the clinical method.
Conclusions: the quaternary prevention in electroneuromyography consists on carrying out these diagnostic tests based on the correct application of the clinical method according to: the ethical and scientific relevancy, centered in people and based on shared decisions.
