Resumen de La respuesta a las prácticas mágicas en la 'Lex Visigothorum'

  Partiendo del precedente romano, en el presente trabajo se esboza la evolución que el ordenamiento jurídico visigodo experimentó en relación con la represión de las artes mágicas. Para ello se toman en consideración diversas fuentes, siendo la Lex Visigothorum la principal, por ser el objeto del trabajo, aunque no la única (precedentes legislativos; concilios). Se concluye que dicha evolución tendió, con carácter general, hacia una atenuación de las penas en comparación con el precedente romano, siguiendo por tanto una tendencia en ese sentido que irradió probablemente desde Bizancio en torno al siglo VII. Asimismo, se subraya la importancia que para el poder político tuvo el control de sus agentes en relación con la persecución de estos comportamientos.

  Building upon the Roman precedent, this study outlines the evolution underwent by Visigothic legal frameworks with respect to the suppression of magical arts. To this end, various sources are considered, with the Lex Visigothorum serving as the primary focus of the work, although not the sole reference (which includes legislative precedents and councils). The study concludes that this evolution tended, in general, towards a mitigation of penalties compared to the Roman precedent, thus following a trend influenced by Byzantium around the seventh century. Likewise, the analysis underscores the importance of political authority in ensuring the control of its agents in relation to the persecution of such practices.
