  • Resumen
    • This chapter studies the first period of the filmography of director and music producer Gonzalo García-Pelayo. These films allow us to glimpse a culturalist and situated reading of the Spanish Transition, in tune with a generational view of Andalusian identity associated with hippies, psychedelia and the underground scene. We explore the way in which the production of meaning of this cinema is carried out through a mise en scène organized through the multiform uses of pre-existing popular songs. The analysis focuses on his debut, Manuela (1976), understanding it as an aesthetic program of his work, since it condenses the most diverse and intense uses of songs that had been produced by García-Pelayo himself.
