The purpose of this study is to determine whether the sex, the type of nursing, the caries and the respiratory obstruction syndrome are risk factors in the prevalence ofthe malocclusion in the children of Vigo with mixed dentition. A pattem of 1.032 children from both sexes is studied, with ages between 4 and 14 years old, with a mean age of8,337 years anda typical deviation of 2,012. That pattem is representative of this population with a maximal error of ±3% for a leve! of trust of 95% (p < 0,05). The prevalence of malocclusion in this population is 59,1%. In this study, sexual dimorphism related to malocclusion exists (p = 0,00035), introducing a reason of crossed products or Odds ratio (OR) = 1,58 (1,22 < OR < 2,04), so then, the condition of girl is considered like a factor of risk. The feeding with baby bottle increases the prevalence of malocclusion (p = 0,001 ), existing an OR = 1,39 (1,03 < OR < 1,88), then the feeding with baby bottle is a factor of risk. The caries in temporal dentition favors the malocclusion (p = 0,028), with an OR = 1,35 (1 ,02 < OR < 1,77), therefore the caries in temporal fundamentally pieces are factors ofrisk in the malocclusion. However, one could not establish a relationship between malocclusion and the syndrome of respiratory obstruction (p = 0,328), neither therefore it is considered a risk factor, OR = 1,14 (0,84 < OR < 1,55).
