    En estas recomendaciones se hace referencia a la definición del síndrome congénito por el virus Zika, su etiología, la clasificación y manifestaciones clínicas, que incluyen: las alteraciones oculares y del fondo de ojo reportadas hasta el momento, los patrones antropométricos a utilizar para la evaluación de la microcefalia, la descripción de la técnica de medición de la circunferencia cefálica, cuándo indicar los estudios complementarios y sus principales resultados. Se hace referencia también a las rutinas que se deben seguir para la pesquisa del síndrome congénito del virus Zika al momento del nacimiento, y la actuación desde su nacimiento hasta su egreso de la institución hospitalaria. Estas recomendaciones comprenden, además, las conductas que se deben seguir al alta hospitalaria y las recomendaciones a los padres.

    These recommendations makes reference to the definition of the congenital Zika virus syndrome, its etiology, classification and clinical manifestations including eye and fundus oculi alterations reported up to now, the anthropometric patterns to be used for the evaluation of microcephaly, the description of the technique for measurement of cephalic circumference, the right time to indicate the supplementary studies and their main results. Reference is also made to the regular steps to be followed for the screening of the congenital Zika virus syndrome at the time of birth and the performance to be adopted from birth to discharge from hospital. These recommendations also include the behaviors to be adopted after the discharge from hospital and the recommendations for parents.
