    A pesar de las diferencias que pueda haber entre las distintas posiciones que se dedican al estudio de las técnicas de sí (o de la ascética, en tanto programa organizado, sistematizado, de técnicas de sí), generalmente se parte de la idea de que las técnicas se comprenden desde una realidad no técnica. Son la religión, la filosofía y la política las que dan sentido a las técnicas de sí. En este escrito invertimos la relación, convirtiendo a la técnica en la medida de la práctica ascética. Y esto bajo el presupuesto de que las técnicas (del tipo que fueren) nunca son dóciles, y siempre, de un modo u otro, y con su lógica interna, reconfiguran el proceso del que forman parte.

    In spite of the differences that may exist between the different positions that are dedicated to the study of techniques of the self (or ascetics, as an organized, systematized program of techniques of the self) it is generally assumed that the techniques are understood from a non-technical reality. Religion, philosophy, and politics give meaning to the techniques of self. In this paper we reverse the relationship, making technique the measure of ascetic practice; and this under the pre-supposition that techniques (of whatever kind) are never docile, and always, in one way or another, and with their internal logic, reconfigure the process of which they are a part.
