    La alfarería bailenense experimenta un gran auge en el siglo XIX. De entre la gran diversidad de cacharros que producen sus talleres, sobresale la orza, que en ese siglo llegó a alcanzar sus mayores tamaños. Estas grandes orzas sirvieron para almacenar y conservar aceite principalmente, siendo exportadas dentro y fuera de la provincia.

    Muchas de ellas desaparecieron entre los escombros al derruirse el caserío tradicional en las décadas sesenta y setenta del siglo pasado y las que sobrevivieron han pasado desapercibidas o confundidas en museos y colecciones. Partiendo del estudio de los ejemplares de indiscutible origen bailenense, se aportan las claves para el análisis estilístico, herramienta que mediante la presente publicación se pone al servicio de estudiosos y coleccionistas con el objetivo de rescatar del olvido y dar a conocer estas piezas singulares de la alfarería bailenense del siglo XIX.

    The pottery from Bailén experimented a big boom in the 19th century. Among the great diversity of pots that produce the pottery factories stands out the storage vessel “orza” that in this century reaches its biggest size. These large storage vessels “orzas” were used mainly to store and conserve oil, being exported inside and outside of the province. Many of them disappeared into the rubble when the traditional houses were destroyed in the decades sixties and seventies of the last century and those that survived have gone unnoticed or confused in museums and private collections. Starting from the study of the specimens of indisputable origin from Bailén, the keys are provided for the stylistic analysis, a tool which is put to the service of researches and collectors with the objective of rescuing from the oblivion and making known these unique pieces of the pottery from Bailén of the 19th century
