    La iglesia alfonsí de Santa María de la Oliva de Lebrija (Sevilla) recibió una importante intervención constructiva entre 1475 y 1521, cuando se dotó de claustros y nueva cabecera, luego sustituida por la que actualmente la preside. En ese contexto se desplegó un ambicioso conjunto de pinturas, de las que conservamos algunos restos parciales y una rica documentación, en parte inédita. El estudio de ambos nos permitirá recuperar la imagen del templo, cuyo aspecto se vería después profundamente trasformado, así como recrear la práctica del oficio del pintor de frescos y dorador en el alfoz sevillano; profesionales que seguirán actuando sobre principios de tradición hispanomusulmana, aunque receptivos a la incorporación de los repertorios del Tardogótico y primer Renacimiento.

    An important construction work was carried out in the Church of Santa María de la Oliva in Lebrija (Seville) between 1475 and 1521. This intervention added cloisters and a new apse to the building, though the apse was later transformed into its current form. At this juncture, an ambitious set of architectural paintings was deployed inside the Church, a set which is poorly preserved but richly documented by unpublished documents. The analysis of both sources will allow for the retrieval of the original temple’s image, as well as the recreation of the practice of fresco painters and gilders in the Kingdom of Seville. Even though these professionals followed the Hispano-Muslim artistic principles, they were receptive to incorporating late Gothic and early Renaissance repertoires.
