    O artigo tem por objetivo analisar o processo de instalação da Universidade de Brasília através da cobertura jornalística do diário local, o Correio Braziliense. Que aspectos da instalação da Universidade foram cobertos pelo Correio Braziliense? Qual a posição do jornal em relação à instituição? Acerca da primeira questão, foi possível observar que, dentro do fenômeno histórico que se denominou de instalação da Universidade de Brasília, o Correio Braziliense cobriu aspectos burocráticos, acadêmicos e da cultura material da instituição. Sobre a segunda questão, pode-se afirmar que o jornal Correio Braziliense, seja no conjunto de matérias ou em colunas específicas como as de Ari Cunha, Katucha e Yvonne Jean, teve uma posição francamente favorável à instalação da Universidade de Brasília. Via nela um instrumento necessário para a consolidação da nova capital e, ao mesmo tempo, uma instituição formadora dos profissionais de que a cidade e o país necessitavam.

    The article aims to analyze the process of establishing the University of Brasília through the journalistic coverage of the local daily, Correio Braziliense. What aspects of the University’s installation were covered by Correio Braziliense? What is the newspaper’s position in relation to the institution? Regarding the first question, it was possible to observe that, within the historical phenomenon called the installation of the University of Brasília, Correio Braziliense covered bureaucratic, academic and material culture aspects of the institution. Regarding the second question, it can be said that the newspaper Correio Braziliense, whether in the set of articles or in specific columns such as those by Ari Cunha, Katucha and Yvonne Jean, had a position that was clearly favorable to the installation of the University of Brasília. He saw it as a necessary instrument for the consolidation of the new capital and, at the same time, an institution that trained the professionals that the city and the country needed.
