    Resumen El artículo presenta los resultados de la investigación “Estado de arte sobre los estudios sobre la cultura del libro y los impresos en Bolivia, 1990-2018”. Su objetivo fue delinear el estado del conocimiento sobre la cultura impresa en Bolivia, a fin de detectar las líneas de estudio hasta ahora investigadas y, principalmente, los vacíos investigativos. La metodología utilizada es la convencionalmente aceptada para la elaboración de estados de arte con una base de datos de 505 registros. Los resultados más importantes indican que este tema ha sido estudiado por diversas ciencias y disciplinas, principalmente de las Ciencias Sociales y Humanas. Entre los estudios sobre la actualidad destacan las prácticas lectoras de ciertos sectores sociales y algunos tipos de lectores, incluidos los digitales. Los vacíos más importantes se observan en estudios sobre el papel del Estado en la cultura de los impresos, la institucionalidad, especialmente privada, de imprenta y edición, y las características del actual mercado del libro.

    Abstract The article presents the results of the research “State of the art on studies on the culture of books and print in Bolivia, 1990-2018”. Its objective was to outline the state of knowledge on print culture in Bolivia, in order to detect the lines of study investigated so far and, mainly, the research gaps. The methodology used is the conventionally accepted one for the elaboration of state of the art with a database of 505 items registered. The most important results indicate that this topic has been studied by various sciences and disciplines, mainly from the Social Sciences and Humanities. Among the studies on the present, reading practices of certain social sectors and some types of readers, including digital ones, stand out. The most important gaps are found in studies on the role of the State in the culture of print media, institutions, especially private printing and publishing, and the characteristics of the current book market.
