  • Resumen
    • The trope época 60 refers to the period when Chilean society redefined its landscape through agrarian reform laws and the nationalization of natural resources (1964 to 1971). These laws allowed the State to establish new forms of coexistence that helped to move beyond the colonial dynamics of agricultural, livestock, and mining production, all of which were rooted in colonial practices like the encomienda and mita. Importantly, these reforms were made possible in the previous decades by the theatre companies established in public universities between 1941 and 1962. These theatre companies—especially their playwrights— promoted utopian visions through dramaturgy, with dialogues and stage directions that expanded the boundaries of what society considered achievable. In line with this thesis, this paper explores the political and institutional frameworks that enabled the successful implementation of this theatrical initiative.
