    Motivada por la publicación reciente (2018) de una nueva historia general del cine boliviano (Historia del cine boliviano 1897-2017), la autora evalúa la complejidad que asumen las formas y modalidades de abordaje crítico e investigativo sobre la producción cinematográfica del país. Para ello recurre a dos ideas articuladoras: a) la necesidad de relatar un fenómeno cultural relativamente desconocido y no suficientemente estudiado, como es el cine boliviano; y b) el hecho de que en ese relato se entrelazan, casi necesariamente, la investigación y el testimonio, toda vez que los investigadores y estudiosos son a menudo también protagonistas del hacer cinematográfico. El primer gesto es ejemplificado precisamente por el mencionado libro, cuyos criterios de trabajo son sometidos a escrutinio crítico; mientras el segundo permite a la autora ampliar la reflexión hacia la producción actual (revistas impresas y digitales, documentos de festivales y encuentros, catálogos y memorias), caracterizada por nuevos intentos de articular y relacionar las realidades del cine nacional.

    On the occasion of the recent (2018) publication of a new general history of Bolivian cinema, the work evaluates the complexity of forms and modes of taking on critique and research of the cinema production of the country. Two linking ideas are employed for this purpose: a) the need to tell the story of Bolivian cinema, a cultural phenomenon that is relatively unknown and has not been sufficiently studied; and b) the fact that in telling this story, there is an almost inevitable intertwining of research and testimony, as the researchers and scholars are often also protagonists of film-making. The first approach is exemplified by the mentioned book, the work criteria of which are subjected to critical scrutiny, while the second approach allows the author to expand reflection to present-day production (printed and digital magazines, festival and encounter documents, catalogues and reports), characterized by new efforts for bringing together and interrelating the realities of the country's cinema.
