    En el mundo humano hay escasez de agua. Actualmente una tercera parte de la humanidad vive en regiones con estrés hídrico. Debido a ello es importante explorar alternativas que ayuden a solucionar la falta de agua. En este trabajo se describe un esfuerzo cuyo objetivo fue diseñar y poner en funcionamiento sistemas que capturen el agua contenida en la niebla. Estos sistemas son conocidos como atrapanieblas. Estos dispositivos fueron desplegados en dos municipios del estado de Hidalgo, México, cubiertos con bosques nublados. Con ello se buscó desarrollar una alternativa económica y viable para hacer llegar agua a comunidades humanas con estrés hídrico en la zona citada.

    Freshwater is in short supply worldwide. Currently, one thirdof humanity lives in water-stressed regions. It is thereforevital to explore ways to help resolve the lack of this vitalsubstance. In this work we describe a project whose objectivewas to adapt fog harvesting systems and put them intooperation. These are systems that capture water from fog. Wedeployed these devices in two municipalities in the state ofHidalgo, Mexico, that have cloud forest cover. We set out todevelop an affordable and viable option for providing waterto water-stressed communities in the study area.
