    Gustavo Gutiérrez pasó a la inmortalidad como ilustre dominico y origen inspiradode la teología de la liberación que fue, a su vez, liberación de la teología, según profetizara Juan Luis Segundo, el ilustre teólogo uruguayo. Pese a las terribles vicisitudes del camino, la teología de la liberación se hizo ayer y se hace hoy no solo útil sino necesaria. De esa teología el lugar social fue, es y será la dramática condición de los pobres, acrecentados hoy en múltiples formas en la vigencia plena del neoliberalismo económico y de la nueva derecha política. El lugar teológico de esa teologíaes larevelación de Dios en los hechos de la historia interpretados por la palabra a lo largo de la historia de salvación, como enseñó el Concilio en su Constitución Dogmática sobre la divina revelación.Este escrito quiere ser memoria de la primera teología de la liberación según los diseños de Gustavo Gutiérrez en el cúmulo de sus obras publicadas. Es también registro de las posteriores y actuales contribuciones vitales, históricas, filosóficas y sociales para que el estatutode la teología de la liberación de ayer siga siendo de hoy y de mañana en esa nueva forma de hacer teología.

    Gustavo Gutiérrez passed into immortality as an illustrious Dominican and inspired origin of the Theology of Liberation, which was, in turn, Liberation of Theology, as prophesied by Juan Luis Segundo, the illustrious Uruguayan theologian. Despite the terrible vicissitudes of the path, the Theology of Liberation was made yesterday and is made today not only useful but necessary. The social place of that theology was, is and will be the dramatic condition of the poor, increased today in multiple ways in the full force of Economic Neoliberalism and the New Political Right. The theological place of that theology is the revelation of God in the facts of history interpreted by the word throughout the history of salvation, as taught by the Council in its Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation.This writing aims to be a memory of the first Theology of Liberation according to the designs of Gustavo Gutiérrez in the accumulation of his published works. It is also a record of the later and current vital, historical, philosophical and social contributions so that the status of Liberation Theology of yesterday continues to be of today and of tomorrow in this new way of doing theology.
