  • Resumen
    • A pilot study was conducted in the municipality of Centro Habana during the summer of 2002 to classify housing according to its environmental quality by determining factors related to government, perceived stress, biomarkers and respiratory morbidity among residents with constrasted environments. The health guide tool was applied in the house in order to evaluate the health situation of the houses of 48 studied subjects. A survey was also done to get data about living conditions, stress, risk factors, determination of arterial tension (AT), anthropometric indicators and biomarkers. It was possible to make a classification into 2 groups: tenement houses and monofamily apartments. Most of the biomarkers showed a temporarily stable behavior. The cholesterol/HDL index was higher in the residents of better houses, as well as the level of perceived stress. The economic conditions and the respiratory diseases were relatively similar in the studied environments.
