Modelling involves the dissemination of knowledge. The existence of a validated model of an object under study may not only increase knowledge, but also predict peculiarities which cannot be known by testing. The virtual homologation of railway vehicles requires, for example, a precise model of the entire vehicle. The entire vehicle, that is, all of its components. The present research work deals with the modelling of the pneumatic suspension system, on the study of each of its components and the development of its models. To that purpose, the main steps of the methodology used to obtain the model of each component are discussed.
