  • Resumen
    • The Book of Job, hailing from a ‘transitional’ stage in the development of Biblical Hebrew before the emergence of Late Biblical Hebrew, exhibits hermeneutical thinking in the way that it interprets earlier texts. That its erudite author(s) quotes, alludes to, and utilizes ancient Israelite literature has been well documented, as exemplified by a recent monograph specifically on intertextuality in Job. Both Job and his friends—in the text’s world—are evidently readers of Israel’s sacred texts who ultimately differ in their interpretations.
