    El presente artículo, más allá de los tajantes y desgastados rótulos que dividieron a las sociedades decimonónicas que parieron su independencia política en América Latina, tiene como objetivo central brindar un panorama general en torno a las concepciones sobre el progreso difundidas en México entre 1821 y 1910, enfatizando en la recepción, reelaboración, difusión e incidencia pública de esta noción, no sin analizar –brevemente– la historia económica de la época en cuestión y el impacto de las estrategias de política inspiradas por estas concepciones. A lo largo del manuscrito son rastreadas las posiciones y posturas de distintos pensadores e ideólogos respecto al papel y funciones del Estado en la construcción de mercados y en la distribución de la riqueza, procurando una arqueología del pensamiento que desentrañe la transformación de la historia de las ideas mexicanas expuestas al calor del devenir convulso del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX, y que lograron configurar la identidad del Estadonación y arraigaron los cimientos del capitalismo a partir de la incidencia del liberalismo en sus distintas vertientes y del entramado institucional también inspirado en dicha ideología.

    The present article, beyond the sharp and worn signs that divided the nineteenth century societies that gave birth to political independence in Latin America, has as its central objective to provide an overview of the concepts of progress disseminated in Mexico between 1821 and 1910, emphasizing the reception, re-elaboration, diffusion and public incidence of this notion, not without briefly analyzing the economic history of the time in question and the impact of the policy strategies inspired by these conceptions. Throughout the manuscript the positions and postures of different thinkers and ideologists with regard to the role and functions of the State in the construction of markets and in the distribution of wealth are traced, seeking an archeology of thought that unravels the transformation of the history of Mexican ideas exposed to the heat of the convulse of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, and succeeded in shaping the identity of the nation-state and rooted the foundations of capitalism based on the influence of liberalism in its various aspects and the institutional framework that also inspired this ideology.
