    Los intelectuales argentinos buscaron al principio independizarse política y culturalmente de España y exaltaron otros paradigmas, como el francés o el inglés. Hacia fines del siglo XIX surgieron corrientes que reivindicaron el legado español. Sin embargo, esa apreciación no solía incluir a Galicia como cultura fundadora. Esto no es proporcional a la gran importancia de la inmigración gallega en la Argentina y se debe en parte a la carga de un estereotipo étnico despectivo. Sin embargo, algunos escritores que viajaron a Galicia rechazaron el estereotipo degradante y constataron su profunda conexión afectiva y cultural con esta tierra. Reconocieron, así, la identidad gallega como valioso patrimonio de la identidad argentina.

    At first, the Argentinian intellectuals pursued political and cultural independence from Spain, while they praised other models, such as French or English. Towards the end of the Nineteenth Century, currents of thought willing to revalue the Spanish legacy appeared. However, this appreciation usually didn’t include Galicia as a founding culture. This is not proportional to the substantial presence of Galician immigration in Argentina, and it is partly due to the weight of a disdainful ethnical stereotype. However, several Argentinian writers who travelled to Galicia rejected that demeaning stereotype and confirmed their deep affective and cultural ties to this land. They so acknowledged the Galician identity as a valuable heritage of Argentinian identity.
