La historia del sistema interamericano de derechos humanos ha estado determinada por el contexto político y la realidad de las violaciones de derechos humanos. Bajo esta premisa, en este trabajo se busca determinar cuáles son los desafíos y los límites que la realidad le imponen a los órganos de protección de derechos humanos en la región a fin de poder cumplir con sus funciones propias y así legitimar sus actuaciones.

The history of the inter-American human rights system has been determined by the political context and the reality of human rights violations. Under this premise, this paper seeks to determine what are the challenges and the limits that reality imposes on the human rights protection bodies in the region in order to be able to fulfill their own functions and thus legitimize their actions.
