    This is a translation of an article by Adrián Gorelik. The article reviews the different constellations of meaning that the opposition between Buenos Aires and the interior of the country organized during the twentieth century in the Argentine intellectual world. It analyzes the different visions of the country between 1880 and the 1920s, but it focuses especially on the representation of “the two Argentinas”, the idea of a complete fracture between the urban world of the coast and the provincial-rural world of the interior of the country, which between the 1930s and the 1970s describes a cycle during which it reverses its ideological sign, its location and its protagonists. Finally, it points out how and why the transformations of Buenos Aires in the 1980s and 1990s brought this long cycle of representations to a close.

    Trata-se de uma tradução de artigo de Adrián Gorelik. O artigo percorre as diversas constelações de sentido que a oposição entre Buenos Aires e o interior do país organizou durante o século XX no mundo intelectual argentino. Analisa as diversas visões de país entre 1880 e a década de 1920, mas se detém especialmente na representação das “duas Argentinas”, ou seja, a ideia de que há uma fratura completa entre o mundo urbano do litoral e o mundo provinciano-rural do interior do país, que entre a década de 1930 e de 1970 descreve um ciclo ao longo do qual inverte seu signo ideológico, sua localização e seus protagonistas. Finalmente, destaca-se como e por que as transformações de Buenos Aires nas décadas de 1980 e 1990 fecharam esse longo ciclo de representações.
