  Gracias a la información contenida en el Padrón de Tenerife de 1779, hemos estudiado las características más sobresalientes de los hogares rurales y portuenses, caso de sus estructuras, composición y tamaño. Para conocer los cambios y permanencias que conoció la vida familiar en la isla, hemos acudido también al manejo de diferentes padrones urbanos junto a otros fechados en la primera mitad del siglo XIX. Finalmente, el registro de las profesiones en los padrones de 17791835 nos ha permitido cuantificar las aportaciones del trabajo infantil y femenino en el sostenimiento de sus respectivas economías domésticas.

  Thanks to the information contained in the Tenerife Register of 1779, we have studied the most outstanding characteristics of rural and Portuense homes, including their structure, composition and size. To know the changes and permanence that family life on the island experienced, we have also made use of the census of different urban records as well as other registries, dated in the first half of the 19th century. Finally, the registration of professions in the census of 1779-1835 has allowed us to quantify the contributions of child and female labour in supporting their respective domestic economies.
