    The reflection built within the scope of this work about the late industrialization of the capitalist periphery, based mainly on the analyzes of Alice Amsden (2009) and Deepak Nayyar (2014), aims to point out the differences found in the industrializing strategies committed by peripheral countries Latin America and some countries on the Asian periphery, which ended up having a major impact on the results achieved, in terms of allowing or not the consolidation of the effort towards industrialization, represented by the success in reaching the technological frontier, breaking technological dependence and all other dependencies that result from it (such as financial and cultural). Although it cannot be ignored that the neoliberal turn represented an embargo on the industrializing strategies of almost the entire periphery, given its anti-developmental character, the reflection proposed in the present work seeks to point out internal elements of the strategies involved, which contributed to their inability to generate the conclusion of the technological pairing sought. However, one cannot lose sight of the fact that the actions implemented were conditioned by historical, geographical and structural elements of each country/territory, that is, they were not the result of a voluntary choice.

    A reflexão construída no âmbito do presente trabalho acerca da industrialização tardia da periferia capitalista, com base, sobretudo nas análises de Alice Amsden (2009) e Deepak Nayyar (2014), tem por propósito apontar as diferenças encontradas nas estratégias industrializantes empenhadas pelos países da periferia latino americana e alguns países da periferia asiática, as quais findaram por causar um grande impacto nos resultados alcançados, em termos de permitir ou não a consolidação do esforço à industrialização, representado pelo êxito em alcançar a fronteira tecnológica, rompendo a dependência tecnológica e todas as demais dependências que dela resulta (como a financeira e cultural, por exemplo). Embora não se despreze que a virada neoliberal representou um embargo às estratégias industrializantes da quase totalidade da periferia, dado seu caráter antidesenvolvimentista, a reflexão proposta no presente trabalho busca apontar elementos internos às estratégias empenhadas, os quais contribuíram à sua incapacidade de gerar a conclusão do emparelhamento tecnológico buscado. Contudo, não se pode perder de vista que as ações implementadas foram condicionadas por elementos de ordem histórica, geográfica e estrutural de cada país/território, ou seja, não foram fruto de uma escolha voluntária.
