This article, from the binomial culture/barbarism, discusses the way in which the past / present dialogue, based on themes and methodological issues pertaining to Cultural History and Cultural Studies, it contributes to the redefinition of the Western cultural tradition, especially from the dialogue of the philosopher Simone Weil with the epic poem Ilíada, by Homer.

Este artigo, a partir do binômio cultura/barbárie, discute a maneira pela qual o diálogo passado/presente, a partir de temas e questões metodológicas atinentes à História Cultural e aos Estudos Culturais, contribui para ressignificações da tradição cultural ocidental, especialmente a partir do diálogo da filósofa Simone Weil com o poema épico Ilíada, de Homero.
