Dupla clausura: os discursos disciplinares e a imanência do trabalho como construção da identidade das mulheres reclusas portuguesas

    Through control devices, there is an attempt in female prison systems to punish inmates, not only for being transgressors, but also for being women who deviate from the normative sense of what it is to be a woman. So, the work in prisons acts both as a disciplining device and as a mechanism of double subjection. In order to understand the meaning that inmates attribute to labor issues in prison, 14 interviews were carried out with women working in a prison in Portugal. The interviews were analyzed using foucauldian discourse analysis and the participants revealed, on the one hand, a positive and re-educational aspect of work, as well as economic benefits (although questionable) but also a subversive form of resistance to the prison system and to work.

    Através dos dispositivos disciplinares, há uma tentativa, nos sistemas prisionais femininos, de punir as reclusas, não somente por serem transgressoras, mas também por serem mulheres que se desviam do senso normativo do que é ser mulher. Assim, o trabalho nas prisões, atua como mecanismo de duplo assujeitamento. Com o objetivo de compreender o significado que as reclusas atribuem às questões laborais em reclusão foram realizadas 14 entrevistas a mulheres que trabalham num Estabelecimento Prisional em Portugal. As entrevistas foram analisadas com recurso à análise foucaultiniana do discurso e as participantes revelaram, por um lado, uma vertente positiva e de reeducação do trabalho, bem como benefícios econômicos (embora questionáveis) mas também uma forma subversiva de resistência ao sistema prisional e ao trabalho.
