Tomando como punto de partida la reflexión de algunos de los más reconocidos profesionales de los archivos cinematográficos a nivel global, el texto repasa las principales áreas de trabajo de las filmotecas en el contexto concreto del siglo xxi, y las asimila a las de las instituciones museísticas. Las conclusiones apuntan a una concepción de estas instituciones como museos de la cultura del siglo xx.

Establishing as its point of departure the writings of some of the most recognized professionals of the cinematographic archives at a global level, the text reviews the main areas of work of the filmotecas in the specific context of the 21st century and maintains that they are comparable to those of a museum. The conclusions point to the idea that these institutions should be considered as museums of 20th century culture.
