La componente subterránea en el balance hídrico de la cuenca cubana San Juan

    La cuenca San Juan la conforman las subcuencas San Agustín, Cañas y San Juan. El balance simple de la subcuenca San Agustín - Cañas, con un área de 267 km2, arrojó que para que exista el balance hiperanual de 428,6 hm3, la subcuenca debe tener un área adicional de unos 55 km2, la cual genere un aporte adicional de 30,5 hm3 a la escorrentía de la cuenca y se considera que corresponde a un aporte subterráneo significativo. Para comprobar esta hipótesis, se estimó la componente subterránea por diferentes métodos, concluyéndose que el aporte adicional está generado por la infiltración de las precipitaciones que ocurre en el área del polje y la zona cársica existente en la cuenca Aguacate al oeste de la subcuenca San Agustín - Cañas.

    The San Juan catchment is form up of San Agustín, Cañas and San Juan sub-catchment. The simple balance of San Agustín sub-catchment, with an area of 267 km2, showed that for the hipper-annual balance of 428,6 hm3 to exist, the sub-catchment must have an additional area of about 55 km2, which generates an additional contribution of 30,5 hm3 to runoff from the basin and is considered to correspond to a significant groundwater contribution. To verify this hypothesis, the groundwater component value was computed by different methods concluding that the additional contribution is given by the value of groundwater component, which is generated by the infiltration of rainfall that occurs in the polje area and the karst zone existent in Aguacate catchment at west of San Agustín - Cañas sub-catchment.
