    La ingeniería hidráulica en Cuba como carrera es relativamente joven, no abundan los referentes sobre la formación de este ingeniero, los disponibles versan sobre la enseñanza, las relaciones interdisciplinarias o el currículo, pero se dificulta encontrar en ello las causas que propiciaron la aparición de esta carrera; ello motivó a las autoras a reflexionar acerca de los fenómenos que originaron el diseño de una nueva carrera, es decir, la génesis de la formación del ingeniero hidráulico en Cuba, lo que propició comprender la estabilidad de su proceso docente hasta nuestros días.

    Hydraulic engineering in Cuba as a career is relative new, there is not abundance of information about the formation of these engineers; the available documents are focused in teaching, the disciplinarily relationship or curriculum, but is difficult to find the origin; therefore the aim of this work is to reflect about the phenomenona giving origin to the design of this new career. Knowledge of the genesis of the formation of the hydraulic engineer in Cuba allowed to understand the stability of its teaching process up to the present day.
