    Objetivamos investigar o valor semântico e a ocorrência de variação linguística em Unidades Fraseológicas (UF) do tipo Provérbios e Ditados Populares brasileiros, com a aplicação de Inteligência Artificial (IA) do tipo ChatGPT e software de processamento linguístico AntConc. Como referencial teórico, valemo-nos dos estudos de Klare (1986), Biderman (1998; 1987), Silva (2006), Xatara e Succi (2008), Monteiro-Platin (2014), entre outros. Os resultados demonstram haver potencial para utilização de IA e aprendizado de máquina em investigações sobre aspectos da linguagem. A avaliação sobre a adequação ou não desse tipo de tecnologia fica a critério do leitor. A respeito dos resultados linguísticos obtidos, observamos que há maior ocorrência de Provérbios e/ou Ditados Populares brasileiros incluídos nos campos semânticos de paciência (maior recorrência), precaução e prudência (segunda maior recorrência) e consequência (terceira maior recorrência). Além disso, foram identificadas variantes coocorrentes em diversos campos semânticos, incluindo paciência, precaução, consequência, comportamento, responsabilidade, comunicação e vulnerabilidade.

    We aim to investigate the semantic value and the occurrence of linguistic variation in Phraseological Units (PUs) of the type Proverbs and Popular Sayings in Brazilian Portuguese, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT and the linguistic processing software AntConc. As a theoretical framework, we draw on the studies of Klare (1986), Biderman (1998; 1987), Silva (2006), Xatara and Succi (2008), Monteiro-Platin (2014), among others. The results demonstrate the potential for using AI and machine learning in investigations of language aspects. The assessment of whether this type of technology is appropriate or not is left to the reader’s discretion. Regarding the linguistic results obtained, we observed a higher occurrence of Brazilian Proverbs and/or Popular Sayings in the semantic fields of patience (highest recurrence), caution and prudence (second highest recurrence), and consequence (third highest recurrence). Furthermore, co-occurring variants were identified in various semantic fields, including patience, caution, consequence, behavior, responsibility, communication, and vulnerability.
