Introduction: The arrival of old age is currently a social phenomenon where there is a sustained increase in the world's population. Cuba is one of the countries within the Americas and the Caribbean region with the highest proportions of older people. For several years, the province of Villa Clara has been considered the oldest in the country. Objective: To characterize the provision of care for the elderly. Method: Systematic review, between November 2024 and January 2025 for a critical reflective analysis of the content of documents, published in Spanish in SciELO and Google Scholar. A critical evaluation of the included studies was carried out through content analysis. Conclusions: Promoting healthy aging is crucial to ensure the quality of life of the older population and to meet the demands of a society in demographic transition. Promoting healthy lifestyle habits, access to preventive and quality health services, as well as wellness and physical activity programs, are essential to ensure active and satisfactory aging. Family care is the most important social support network for older adults.
