    La preocupación por el higienismo es propia de los renovadores de finales del siglo XIX y el primer tercio del XX y es, desde este fenómeno, donde se identifica parte de los esfuerzos transformadores de las escuelas cristianas de este análisis. Desde este marco, el presente trabajo analiza la higiene terrenal y espiritual del pensamiento del Clérigo Andrés Manjón y de las Escuelas del Ave María. Presentando como pregunta de investigación la siguiente: ¿Cómo se refleja la concepción de higiene terrenal y espiritual en las Escuelas del Ave María y en el pensamiento del Padre Manjón? Se dará respuesta a este interrogante teniendo presente el análisis de 16 fuentes primarias escritas por el sacerdote. En la higiene terrenal se presentan tres categorías como: higiene del entorno, el cuidado de la naturaleza y la higiene del cuerpo. Mientras que, en la higiene del espíritu, se encuentran las siguientes categorías: la oración, la meditación, la confesión y la práctica de otras virtudes. De estos resultados, se demuestra que la educación que presentaba el Padre Manjón preparaba tanto física como espiritualmente, planteando principios educativos acordes a la vida material y a la vida con Dios, que también se da en el espacio físico. El higienismo físico y del alma son claves para el desarrollo de ambos tipos de vida.

    The concern for hygiene is typical of the reformers of the late 19th century and the first third of the 20th century. From this framework, the present work aims to analyze the physical and spiritual hygiene in the thought of Clergyman Andrés Manjón and the Ave María Schools. The research question is: How is the conception of physical and spiritual hygiene reflected in the Ave María Schools and in the thought of Father Manjón? The examined writings number 16 and originate from the priest. This phenomenon highlights part of the transformative efforts of the Christian schools analyzed. Physical hygiene includes three categories: environmental hygiene, care of nature, and body hygiene. In spiritual hygiene, the categories are prayer, meditation, confession, and the practice of other virtues. These results prove that the education presented by Father Manjón prepared in body and spirit. He proposed educational principles consistent with material life and life with God, which also occurs in physical space. Physical and spiritual hygiene are key to the development of both types of life.
