This study comprehensively analyzes the evolution of deaf education research in China over the past three decades.China’s special education journey has transitioned from infrastructure development (1949-2000) to reform and development (2001-present), aligning with international standards that emphasize individual differences, student needs, holistic development, and student-centered education. Despite progress, research specific to deaf education categories remains limited. This study collected 2,033 journal articles on deaf education from 1993 to 2024 using the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database. Employing co-word analysis and CiteSpace cocitation network visualization, this study uncovers major trends, focal areas, and historical context in deaf special education research. And will reveal key developments from three decades, including core research themes, annual publication trends, and disciplinary categories. This analysis will enhance the understanding of research structures, core themes, and evolving trends. Finally, this study provides a comprehensive summary of the historical context and future trends in deaf special education in China, supporting future policy decisions and research initiatives.
