    El presente artículo aborda el estudio de los inventarios de pinturas de cuatro obispos del Virreinato del Perú: Pedro Ortega Sotomayor, Manuel de Mollinedo y Angulo, Juan Queipo de Llano y Luis Francisco Romero. Estos inventarios, realizados de manera previa a la toma de posesión de sus cargos, se distinguen de otro tipo de registros similares en tanto fueron realizados en un momento clave de la vida de estos individuos, a veces luego de un viaje y siempre a punto de emprender uno nuevo hacia sus próximas funciones. El análisis comparativo de los apartados de pinturas permitirá identificar las particularidades de estos registros, así como las selecciones y estrategias de los obispos en la conformación de una colección de pinturas

    This article examines the inventories of paintings belonging to four bishops of the Viceroyalty of Peru: Pedro Ortega Sotomayor, Manuel de Mollinedo y Angulo, Juan Queipo de Llano and Luis Francisco Romero. Th ese inventories, made before the bishops assumed their posts, stand out from other similar records as they were com-piled at a pivotal moment in the lives of these individuals –sometimes aft er a journey and always just before embarking on a new one to assume their new roles. A compara-tive analysis of the painting sections allows us to identify the unique characteristics of these registers and the bishops’ preferences and strategies in assembling their collection of paintings
