    Este artículo está basado en un informe cuatrimestral del Programa Análisis de Coyuntura de la Sociedad Costarricense, de la Escuela de Sociología de la Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica. La investigación expone, por medio de un análisis riguroso de la prensa nacional e informes institucionales, la progresiva tendencia de desmantelamiento y deterioro de la institucionalidad pública y democrática que históricamente ha destacado a Costa Rica en la región centroamericana, así como también analiza las relaciones cada vez más tensas y beligerantes entre los poderes de la República durante la administración de Rodrigo Chaves Robles y la polarización social que estos conflictos han desencadenado.

    This article is based on a four-month period report of the Program of Conjunctural Analysis of the Costa Rican Society, from the Sociology Department of the National University, Costa Rica. The research exposes, through a rigorous analysis of the national press and institutional reports, the progressive tendency of dismantlement and deterioration of the public and democratic institutionality that has historically distinguished Costa Rica in the Central American region, as well as it analyzes the growingly tense and belligerent relations between the powers of the Republic during the administration of Rodrigo Chaves Robles and the polarization that this conflict has brought about.
