    L’any 2023, el Premi Nobel de Química va reconèixer el treball d’Alexei I. Ekimov, Louis E. Brus i Moungi G. Bawendi pel descobriment i la síntesi dels punts quàntics, que han estat el punt de partida d’una revolució tecnològica. En aquesta revisió es descriuen les aportacions que han dut a terme els tres premiats i la contribució que han suposat els punts quàntics en el desenvolupament de les cel·les solars de tercera generació.

    The 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Alexei I. Ekimov, Louis E. Brus and Moungi G. Bawendi for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots, which have been the starting point of a technological revolution. In this review, we look at the contributions of these three laureates and discuss how quantum dots have influenced the development of the third generation of solar cells.
