It entered into force three years later, on April 20, 2006, after having been ratified by 47 countries, including Spain, which signed the Convention on October 25, 2006. Spain’s role in safeguarding this heritage has been outstanding. Today it is the fourth country with the most elements inscribed, and the country with the most records of Good Safeguarding Practices. Flamenco was inscribed on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage on November 16, 2010, a date that has since been consecrated as International Flamenco Day.
