  En este trabajo se reflexiona sobre el concepto de Trastorno Mental Grave y las connotaciones negativas frecuentemente asociadas. Se revisan las intervenciones psicológicas más eficaces disponibles para el abordaje de tres patologías representativas en este campo (Esquizofrenia, Trastorno Bipolar y Primer Episodio de Psicosis). Finalmente, el autor concluye que la psicología clínica es necesaria en el abordaje de las patologías graves, y que posee herramientas útiles que alientan una perspectiva optimista sobre su evolución.

  This paper presents a further and deeper thought on the concept of Severe Mental Disorder and the negative connotations that are often associated with it. We review the most effective psychological interventions available for tackling three of the most typical diseases in this field (Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder and First Episode Psychosis). Finally, the author´s conclusion on the need of clinical psychology with its already developed tools in order to deal with serious diseases, spurs a positive perspective on their evolution.
