Resumen de Bibliometric Analysis of the articles published in the ‘Acta Odontológica Colombiana’ journal during the period 2012-2022

  Objetivo: Evaluar el perfil bibliométrico de la Revista Acta Odontológica Colombiana con base en el índice h5 y las características de los artículos de investigación publicados en el período 2012-2022. Métodos: se realizó bibliometría a partir de 190 artículos, los cuales fueron clasificados por volumen, número y año. Luego de examinar sus resúmenes y títulos se categorizaron por: área de conocimiento (18 categorías), tipo de estudio (14 tipos) y país de origen de los investigadores. El índice h5 se obtuvo a partir de analíticas de Google Scholar y resultados de convocatorias de Publindex, datos que fueron procesados mediante el software Publish or Perish. Se utilizó estadística descriptiva para el análisis de datos. Resultados: el tipo de estudio más publicado fue el de corte transversal (analítico) con 22.6%. El diseño de cohortes solo fue utilizado en 0.5% de los artículos y ninguna publicación correspondió a scoping review (revisión de alcance). El área de conocimiento más investigada fue “Salud Pública/Epidemiología/Administración en salud” (25.7%), farmacología (1.1%) fue la menos publicada. El índice h5 mostró un aumento de h5=4 en el periodo de 2012-2016 a h5=11 en el periodo de 2018-2022. Conclusiones: este análisis bibliométrico permite visibilizar la contribución de la Revista AOC al conocimiento en salud oral mediante la identificación de tendencias en las investigaciones publicadas. Los resultados sugieren la necesidad de publicar mayor diversidad en cuanto a tipos de estudio. Se evidencia un aumento en la visibilidad de la revista gracias al incremento del número de citaciones en los 10 años de estudio.

  Objective: To evaluate the bibliometric profile of the Journal 'Acta Odontológica Colombiana' based on the characteristics of research articles published in 2012-2022. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was performed on 190 articles classified by volume, number, and year. After examining their abstracts and titles, they were categorized by thematic areas (18 categories), type of study (14 types) and country of origin of the researchers. The h5-index was obtained from Google Scholar analytics and Publindex call results, which were processed using Publish or Perish software. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Results: The most used study design was cross-sectional (analytical) with 22.6%. Cohort design was only used in 0.5% of the articles and none of the publications were scoping reviews. The most researched area of knowledge was "Public Health/Epidemiology/Health Administration" (25.7%), while pharmacology (1.1%) was the least published. The observed h5 index for the period 2012-2016 was h5=4, while for the period 2018-2022 it was h5=11. Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis allows for the visibility of AOC Journal's contribution to oral health knowledge by identifying trends in published research. The results suggest the need to publish more diversity in terms of study types. An increase in the journal's visibility is evidenced by a rise in the number of citations over the 10 years of study.
