    Los archivos históricos municipales son espacios de resguardo y conservación documental permanente que la administración municipal ha generado a través de sus diferentes etapas de vida y cuyo acervo es de carácter público. A falta de interés de las autoridades competentes, los historiadores y cronistas de los municipios, ciudades o pueblos han hecho las veces de archivistas con tal de conservar la documentación y, a su vez, utilizarla como fuente para sus investigaciones. En el caso de Sinaloa, la facultad de historia de la Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, por medio de sus profesores e investigadores, contribuye al rescate de los archivos municipales, lo que potencia la producción historiográfica.

    The municipal historical archives are areas of permanent documentary preservation and conservation that the municipal administration has generated through its different stages of life and whose collectionis of a publicnature. In the absence of interest of the competent authorities, thehistorians and chroniclers of the municipalities, cities ort own shaveserved as archivists in orderto preserve the documentation and, in turn, use it as a source for the irresearch. In the case of Sinaloa, the Faculty of History of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), through its professors and researchers, contributest otherescue of the municipal archives, which enhances the historiographic production.
