    Este artículo aborda algunos aspectos metodológicos vinculados a las potencialidades y limitaciones que  presentan las fuentes judiciales para analizar los conflictos interpersonales, focalizando la atención en  aquellos en los que se encontraba en juego el honor de alguna de las partes enfrentadas. El trabajo de  archivo se basó en el análisis de las causas por injurias o calumnias y en el relevamiento de los expedientes  por heridas y homicidios. Los principales desafíos remiten a la representatividad de esta forma de respuesta  frente al agravio y a las mediaciones que afectan las expresiones y el registro de la oralidad y las prácticas  de los protagonistas. Sin embargo, a pesar de estas limitaciones, los expedientes ofrecen una riqueza  insustituible para reflexionar acerca de la polisemia del honor; las lógicas y  dinámicas que caracterizan a  estos enfrentamientos; el lenguaje verbal y gestual que las distingue; los saberes y estrategias que iluminan  las culturas jurídicas de los involucrados, y el problema de los usos sociales de la justicia y de la violencia.

    This paper studies some methodological aspects related to the potential and limitations of judicial sources  to analyze interpersonal conflicts, focusing attention on those in which the honor of some of those involved  was at stake. The work of archiving rested on the analysis of the causes for insults and on the survey of  the files for injuries and homicides. The main challenges refer to the representativeness of this form of  response to the grievance and the mediations that affect the expressions and the register of orality and the  practices of the protagonists. However, despite these limitations, they offer an irreplaceable wealth to reflect  on the polysemy of honor; the logics and dynamics that characterize these clashes; the verbal and gestural  language that distinguishes them; the knowledge and strategies that illuminate the legal cultures of those  involved, and the problem of the social uses of justice and violence.
