    RESUMEN En el artículo se analizan algunos problemas enfrentados por la izquierda latinoamericana en los últimos años, así como los retos que ellos representan para la nueva izquierda emergente y los progresismos. A partir del acervo teórico de la variante marxista de la teoría de la dependencia y otras teorías contemporáneas sobre el Estado, se destacan las principales contradicciones enfrentadas por los gobiernos en el terreno económico y político. Por último, se argumentan algunos retos de Cuba en ese escenario, su relación con la nueva izquierda y el progresismo.

    ABSTRACT The article analyzes some problems faced by the Latin American left in recent years, as well as the challenges they represent for the new emerging left and progressivisms. From the theoretical heritage of the Marxist variant of the dependency theory and other contemporary theories about the state, the main contradictions faced by these governments in the economic and political field are highlighted. Finally, some challenges for Cuba in this scenario are discussed in its relationship with the new left and progressivism.
