Resumen de El Maristán de Granada a la luz de la intervención arqueológica de la Fase 1 de restauración y consolidación del pórtico sur

En este trabajo presentamos los resultados de la investigación arqueológica asociada a la fase 1 del proyecto de restauración y consolidación del pórtico sur del Maristán, aportando datos novedosos sobre los antecedentes del edi-ficio (siglo XI) y su estructura y diseño (siglos XIV-XV), dando a conocer la existencia del sistema de evacuación de agua, una puerta accesoria por calle Bañuelo y un patio o jardín en el extremo sur. Esta nueva interpretación del Maristán nos permite entender mejor su inserción en el urbanismo de la Granada nazarí.

In this paper we present the results of the archaeological research associated with Phase I of the restoration and consolidation project of the southern portico of the Maristán, providing novel data on the current building’s antecedents (11th century) and its structure and design (14th-15th centuries), revealing the existence of the water evacuation system, an ancil-lary door on Calle Bañuelo and a patio or garden at the southern end. This new interpretation of the Maristán allows us to better understand its integration into the urbanism of the Nasrid Granada.
