    La tesis principal de este trabajo es argumentar que los principios pensados por Bartolomé de las Casas que le sirvieron para defender a los aborígenes de América de los actos de los españoles, parten del concepto filosófico de hombre y de los argumentos sustraídos, principalmente de la tradición aristotélica, las teorías de Tomas de Aquino, Francisco de Vitoria, del cristianismo y de su experiencia como clérigo y encomendero en las tierras americanas. Por otra parte, sustentar que aun su pensamiento le aporta a la reflexión actual de los derechos humanos y a la construcción y consolidación de los Estados democráticos contemporáneos.

    The main thesis of this work is to discuss that the principles thought by Bartolomé de las Casas, which served to defend the natives of America from the acts of the Spaniards, start from the philo- sophical concept of man and from the arguments drawn, mainly, from the Aristotelian tradition, the theories of Thomas Aquinas, the contributions of Francisco de Vitoria, Christianity and his experi- ence as a cleric and encomendero in the American lands. On the other hand, it aims to support that his thinking still contributes to the current reflection of human rights and to the construction and consolidation of contemporary democratic states.
