El propósito de la presente investigación documental fue conocer y reflexionar sobre las implicaciones que trae consigo el ausentismo escolar en los aprendizajes que deben adquirir los alumnos en su educación primaria; esto implica que como padres de familia, docentes o alumnos analicemos la importancia que tiene la asistencia a clases. La metodología empleada consistió en un análisis documental, así como el empleo de la cartografía conceptual para guiar el trabajo a realizar, analizando así diversos documentos. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron identificar cuáles son las principales consecuencias que trae consigo el ausentismo escolar en los niños y cómo esto afecta en la vida y desarrollo de los alumnos tanto en el presente como a largo plazo concluyendo así que el no asistir a la escuela afecta en el alumno su bienestar, seguridad y desarrollo, pues es allí donde reciben educación, alimento y protección, donde juegan, hacen amigos y reciben el apoyo de sus docentes. Cuanto más tiempo se ausenten los niños de la escuela, mayor será la probabilidad de que no regresen. Los alumnos con mayor índice de ausentismo son quienes presentan mayor problema en el transcurso de su educación básica llevando consigo un rezago escolar

The purpose of this documentary research was to know and reflect on the implications that school absenteeism brings with it on the learning that students must acquire in their primary education; This implies that as parents, teachers or students we analyze the importance of class attendance. The methodology used consisted of a documentary analysis, as well as the use of conceptual cartography to guide the work to be carried out. The results obtained allowed us to identify the main consequences of school absenteeism in children and how this affects the life and development of students both in the present and in the long term. Not attending school affects the student's well-being, security and development, since it is there where they receive education, food and protection, where they play, make friends and receive support from their teachers. The longer children are absent from school, the greater the likelihood that they will not return. The students with the highest rate of absenteeism are those who present the greatest problems during the course of their basic education, leading to academic lag.
