Since the principle of patient autonomy was imposed to legitimize his consent, he has gone through the essential requirements of being adequately informed and giving valid consent. In the particular case of voluntary psychiatric hospitalizations and in order to guarantee their rights, it is proposed to validate their consent by means of a questionnaire signed by the patient and the psychiatrist, incorporated into the clinical history, in which it is stated that the patient has the capacity to give valid consent, that he or she has been duly informed and that he or she expressly gives his or her consent for the hospitalization.
