Globalización y glocalización en el paisaje lingüístico comercial de Güemes (ciudad de Córdoba, Argentina)

    Este artículo analiza la distribución de diferentes lenguas en el paisaje lingüístico comercial (PLC) de la ciudad de Córdoba (Argentina). Sobre la base del estudio de 150 signos fotografiados en el corazón del barrio Güemes, zona de alto flujo turístico y comercial y atravesada por procesos de globalización y gentrificación, se identifican distintas lenguas en el PLC, se comparan cuantitativamente sus usos, se determinan las funciones que cumplen y los espacios que ocupan y se explica su elección en términos de vínculos semióticos o cargas axiológicas. Asimismo, se avanza sobre una comprensión de esta distribución en el seno de los procesos de globalización y gentrificación más amplios. La hipótesis que orienta este trabajo es que Córdoba es un espacio multilingüe, dinámico, condicionado por dos grandes fuerzas: una globalizadora, afín a una lógica de integración global, y una localizadora, reforzadora de identidades regionales, en una dialéctica denominada glocalización. En el PLC de Güemes es posible reconocer algunas tensiones que revelan la pugna entre estas dos tendencias.

    This article analyzes the distribution of different languages in the commercial linguistic landscape (CLL) of the city of Córdoba (Argentina). On the basis of a study of 150 signs photographed at the heart of Güemes district, a bustling tourist and commercial area affected by processes of globalization and gentrification, different languages are identified in the CLL, their uses quantitatively compared and their functions determined. The spaces occupied by such languages are described, and their choices explained in terms of their semiotic links or axiological loads. Likewise, an approach is made towards a comprehension of their distribution within the wider processes of globalization and gentrification. The hypothesis of this work is that Córdoba is a dynamic multilingual space affected by two great forces: a globalizing one, akin to a global integration logic, and a localizing one, which strengthens regional identities in a so-called dialectics of glocalization. In the CLL of Güemes, it is possible to recognize some tensions that disclose the clash between these two tendencies.
