Resumen de Estrategias para pedir aclaraciones en las interacciones entre italianos y españoles hablando en español

  • In this paper we show the results of a study whose purpose is to characterize the strategies used by our Italian students of Spanish as a foreign language (level B2+/C1) when asking for clarification in their spontaneous distance conversations with Spanish students. To do this, we have consulted the scales of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). In the section on interaction strategies (4.4.3.3.), it is proposed the scale of descriptors on the request for clarification is. There are three key axes: "indicate that it is understood or that there is a comprehension problem" (lower levels), "ask for it to be repeated" and "ask additional questions to check that it is well undesrtood or to ask for more details". Methodologically, we start from the qualitative and quantitative analysis of 20 conversations extracted form the Corinéi corpus according to the scale and the formulas used. The instruments are those offered by Skype that allows remote conversations and to record them. Next, we proceeded to the trasncription, annotation and analysis of the strategies. The results indicate that Italian students have made use of strategies characteristic of the lower levels of the CEFR. We have interpreted these results concluding that the use of such simple strategies and formulas is a characteristic of spontaneous conversation and not a reflection of deficiencies in the level of competence.
