  Introducción El ambiente educacional (AE) es el escenario donde se produce el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, centrándose en la práctica clínica durante la residencia médica, el cual debe evaluarse constantemente a fin de asegurar la calidad del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. La encuesta Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measure (PHEEM) permite evaluar en forma cuantitativa el AE hospitalario de programas de posgrado de manera válida y confiable.
  
  Objetivo Evaluar el AE en la residencia de Clínica Pediátrica de un Hospital de Referencia Provincial.
  
  Método Diseño descriptivo transversal de índole cuantitativo. Se aplicó el instrumento PHEEM a residentes de Pediatría del Hospital Pediátrico durante 2015. Los cuestionarios fueron respondidos en forma voluntaria y anónima. Se usó un cuestionario de 40 ítems con 5 opciones de respuesta, cada una de ellas con un puntaje. El puntaje máximo posible fue 160. Cada ítem tenía un valor de entre 0 y 4. Un puntaje de 3,5 y más identificaba un factor positivo, y entre 2 y menos señalaba algún problema a solucionar. Posteriormente se sumaron los puntajes de todas las preguntas para el puntaje global. Los datos obtenidos fueron procesados con el Programa Stata 11.2 SE.
  
  Resultados Respondieron 19 residentes (16 mujeres y 3 hombres). Puntaje global: 112,83/160. Los puntajes obtenidos correspondieron a un AE más positivo que negativo, con aspectos para mejorar. El AE percibido por los residentes fue de autonomía aceptable, con enseñanza bien orientada y respaldo social. Aspectos positivos: inexistencia de discriminación de género (3,10) y raza (3,47); oportunidades para trabajar con otros médicos de su nivel (3,47); responsabilidades acordes a su capacitación (3,42); entrenamiento recibido que otorga seguridad (3,36); residentes superiores con habilidades docentes (3,31); supervisión clínica en todo momento (3,21); clima de respeto (3,26); motivación para lograr autonomía profesional (3,26); instructores con habilidades docentes (3,26). Condiciones que mejorar: dificultad para conseguir comida durante las guardias.
  
  Conclusiones El AE de la residencia de Pediatría de este hospital resultó más positivo que negativo, identificándose algunos aspectos por mejorar.

  Introduction The educational environment (EE) is the scenario where the teaching-learning process takes place, focusing on clinical practice during medical residency. This should be constantly evaluated in order to ensure the quality of the teaching-learning process. The Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measure (PHEEM) survey allows making a valid and reliable quantitative evaluation of the EE of hospital post-graduate programs.
  
  Objective To evaluate the EE in the Paediatric Clinic Hospital of a Provincial Referral Hospital.
  
  Method Quantitative and descriptive study of cross-sectional design was performed using the PHEEM questionnaire on residents of the Paediatric Hospital during 2015. The questionnaires, which were completed voluntarily and anonymously, contained 40 items with 5 response options. The possible maximum score was 160. Each item had a value between 0 and 4, with a score of 3.5 and above being identified as positive factor and between 2 and less indicating a problem to be solved. The scores for all the questions were aggregated for the overall score. The data obtained were processed using the Stata 11.2 SE software.
  
  Results A total of 19 residents (16 women and 3 men) completed the questionnaire, with a mean overall score of 112.83/160. The scores obtained corresponded to a more positive EE than a negative one with aspects to improve. The EE perceived by the residents was of acceptable autonomy, with well-oriented teaching and social support. Positive aspects were: No gender (3.10) or race (3.47) discrimination; Opportunities to work with other doctors at their level (3.47); Responsibilities according to their training (3.42); Training received gives them security (3.36); Top Residents with Teaching Skills (3.31); Clinical supervision at all times (3.21); Climate of respect (3.26); Motivation to achieve professional autonomy (3.26); Instructors with teaching skills (3.26). Conditions to improve were: difficulty in getting food during on-call.
  
  Conclusions The EE of the paediatrics residency of this hospital was more positive than negative, with some aspects to improve being identified.
