El texto presenta un recorrido por dos de las grandes aproximaciones que han cruzado la historia de la antropología amerindianista en las últimas décadas. En primer lugar, considera el estudio de la noción de humanidad desde un enfoque etnográfico ontológico, en el que han dominado la estructura y la sincronía y ha sido acusado de un cierto apolitismo, esencialismo y ahistoricidad. En segundo lugar, considera el enfoque dinámico, donde han dominado la historia social, las relaciones interétnicas, los análisis sociológicos e históricopolíticos, y la diacronía, en muchas ocasiones, dando lugar a dos agendas paralelas, todas ellas antropológicas. El texto plantea la pertinencia de ambas aproximaciones en la comprensión de los pueblos indígenas, y particularmente de nociones antropológicas como la de humanidad, cuyas transformaciones no serían inteligibles sin un enfoque a la vez ontológico, dinámico y contextual.

The text presents a journey through two of the great approaches that have crossed the history of Amerindianist anthropology in the last decades. First, it considers the study of the notion of humanity from an ethnographic ontological approach — lead by the structure and the synchrony — questioned as a-politic, essentialist and a-historic. Secondly, it goes throughout the dynamic approach, influenced by social history, interethnic relations, sociological and historical-political analysis, and diachrony. On many occasions, giving rise to two parallel agendas, all of them anthropological. The text presents the pertinence of both approaches in the understanding of indigenous peoples and particularly of anthropological notions such as humanity, whose transformations would not be intelligible without an approach both ontological, dynamic and contextual.
